The formation of this group was our immediate response to the outcry for white people to do something in the wake of the murder of George Floyd.
Centered around the book, Waking Up White: And Finding Myself In the Story of Race by Debby Irving, the purpose of these groups is to provide a safe space for people who identify as white to become more aware of their own implicit biases as we explore the devastating consequences of racism in our country.
To date we have we have offered seven sessions. We also created a monthly Alumni meeting for the Affinity Group participants to stay in the conversation, continue to learn and find ways to step into meaningful action.
